This is audial despair. This is isolation. Hakenkreuz Nocturna evoke feelings rather than show pictures in their music like most Black Metal bands do. Really, trust me here, D/L this and give it your full attention! This is Italian Black Metal at its best and bleakest!!
Post Script- So, I've gotten a few comments about this record and thats one of the reasons I do this blog, so I can talk about records with peops. One comment said (from a blogging pal) that I must take this down as it's National Socialist. 'I must' take this down. Why? I blog essentially as a forum, to talk about records, etc etc, their is no political agenda on this blog. You don't like this record, say so, please, but don't tell me I must take it down, that in itself is, well, fucked up. Now, I've stated in the past that these NSBM bands politics have nothing to do with me, I only follow politics of right and wrong, I live my life that way. No Gods, No Masters. I think racism sucks, I think all forms of oppression sucks, wether its racist crap or telling me I must do this or that. And again, this is a free persons blog, where we talk about records, their merits, their impact, their bullshit propaganda. If you don't like this, I understand, I, as well, don't like the politics, I just don't pay attention to them, the NSBM bands probably all live with their parents, don't have friends, don't get laid, play video games all day, or maybe not. I don't know what they do, I don't care.
I live in NYC, the most diverse city in the world, One of my best friends is African-American, another is Gay, another is Vietnamese. So, again, just to cement what I'm saying, I do not have a political agenda here. I am not a racist. I think all forms of oppression suck. This album (and all the rest I put up here) are not my mission statements. I put up albums solely for previewing and to talk about. So, in a sense, this album did it's job.

ReplyDeleteI hear what your saying, but I also hear you sounding more like a fascist than anything posted on sean's blog. Other political beliefs/values/world views are always gonna be out there striving to express themselves. Many (including lots of so-called NSBM) come from a historical context we cannot possibly understand because it is not our history. Censoring these bands won't make them go away. It will only justify their resentment...
I would also like to point out that national socialism is not tantamount to oppression. Many of the burgeoning NSBM scenes hail from war-torn and historically marginalized regions of the world, which have themselves suffered from oppression. They are seeking an identity. Calling them cheap buzz-words like "fascist" and "racist" without understanding exactly who they are and what they seek creates hysteria. It's the same thing as yelling "witch!", or "commie".
And for the record, i am "the Gay" you mentioned in your post. I don't live in constant fear of anything, except being patronized by bleeding heart liberals.

Suddenly a humanitarian/antifascist view on the world is named ''politically correct'' (as if caring about people is part of a political agenda), and a voice that says we should not tolerate oppression is being called out as ''you're speaking more like a fascist that...fascists''.
ReplyDeleteThen when it is mentioned that people from marginalized groups (homosexuals/immigrants) have a serious problem with the neo-nazi movement (especially in europe), then one person thinks he is being ''patronized''. There is no patronization here my friend. Just because you haven't been in trouble doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist. It is actually quite hard for people in other countries (gays i Russia getting murdered by NS members, immigrants getting drowned by authorities in greece-italy etc.). Also, the characterism ''bleeding heart liberal'' can only cause an ironic laughter to individuals/groups who have the dignity to stand up against oppression, either towards themselves, or towards others.
It is not a matter of having a political agenda or not, it is a matter of setting your priorities straight. Some like to live in their own little bubble-world. Totally harmless lives, filling up their time literaly consuming products (music, films, porn, panties, whatever turns you on). The whole black metal scene is built up on being a consumerist industry...something that has nothing to do with modern day reality, but fiddles around with witchcraft and ''evilness'' (with a few exceptions).
National Socialism IS in fact a political theory based on racism...'those who are not ''pure-blooded'' like us, the ''white race'' should be sent out of ''our'' borders, or be slaughtered, for they are inferior'. If that is not racist, then i don't know what is! I agree that lots of countries where NS is getting bigger, there was prior a suppresive system (Stalin's way of Communist USSR had little to do actually with the essence of Marx's Communist Manifesto. Stalin's political agenda was an oppressive brutal one, resolting in the working death of more than 20,000,000 people in Goulag death-camps). But i cannot justify or tolerate the thought that ''since we were oppressed by someone stronger, we will now become oppressors ourselves towards someone weaker''. Fuck that.
As i said before, it is about setting your priorities straight. Fuck nazi sympathy. I'm with Mike all the way.

I AM NOT condoning acts of violence against anyone. I AM saying that posting an NSBM album on a blog about extreme music cannot be called "oppression". It's like blaming marilyn manson for columbine, or jamie lynn spears for teenage pregnancy.

Furthermore, i never said that national socialism WASN'T racist. Many cultures have age old tribal resentments against one another. May be ugly to us, but it's a fact. It is not this blog's responsibility to chastise all the cultures of the world for not playing well together in the sandbox.

By globetrotting around the world and thrusting yourself into conflicts between other people you are passively asserting your own superiority over them, both morally and socioeconomically. It's very team america.
And finally, no one needs to tell me a fuckin thing about homophobic violence. It is presumptuous in the extreme to assume that i have "never been in trouble" (head kicked in in my own neighborhood). You can laugh ironically (smugly) all you want, friend. I still do not live in fear and victimhood.

I think people get so far removed from reality (this one, anyway) when they start to try and define "right and wrong".... There's no such thing and everyone knows it. The world we live in, and the people in it, live in a world that is NOT black and white, although many of you (particularly "politically aware" people) try to make their lives fit into a black and white world, but it just doesn't work like that. People doing this essentially wind up with a PC stick so far up their asses that they forget what they're "fighting" for - freedom of expression, speech, freedom of thought, and the right to live as they would like to, instead of in a society that defines "normalcy" as being just another sheep in the herd, another worker bee buzzing around the hive. And they critique and judge the things they think they need to "eradicate", understanding it only at face value.
ReplyDeleteFrom an anthrological point of view, we only became a "globally concious people" in the last few hundred years... Before this, people kept to their own, as they fought to retain the land and the honor of their people from outside forces looking to take all of this from them. Some places in the world are still in this mindset because they aren't as far removed from the "threat of takeover" as people in europe and america are (considering these nations were conquered and occupied long long ago, and are now Conquering AND Occupying Other, "new" territories. how easy we forget the cold and brutal histories of our OWN countries; but, we only hear the history they've created, anyway...) My point is this: There is no one "RIGHT" way to live. Is the NSBM scene mostly closed minded, meat head assholes? Yes. Some more so than others. Some are intelligent, well read people that you might have a very hard time arguing with, unless of course you just used your FIST, but, that seems an awful lot like a tactic some groups of people use that we are trying to condemn.
Anyway, this is a very hard hard topic to discuss in the context of a blog comment. But, I think we have to remember that we live in a country where it is easy to be an "anti-racist" white person. We've always had the privaledge of having white skin, we've never had our entire way of life threatened by outside forces because we're usually the ones doing the encroaching.
What one calls racist another called pride. What one calls hate crime another calls defending their culture. I don't condone violence or oppression of any kind... CENSORSHIP INCLUDED. I probably would not listen to a band that clubbed down gays to further their political ideology. But, I can understand the idea of "keeping to ones own kind"... There is a lot of GRAY AREA that we refuse to acknowledge, because it's tricky territory, and people are so quick to judge and label that I think most people keep their ideas to themselves lately.
Music is music. If you don't like something about a band, don't listen to it... But to say things like "You MUST take this down" sounds like a FASCIST TO ME! Mwahahahah.

The human race in general is a destructive force. Since even before the introduction of agriculture, we've been at war with each other. We seek to take, to consume, to destroy, to use up, and move on. We can live in a fantasy all we want about living "sustainably, about having "equality" and living in a world free of oppression. But, the fact of the matter is, Human beings have NEVER lived this way. And you can argue that, "Yes, sure, they did, when we were hunter gatherers blah blah blah..." There just weren't ENOUGH of us to fuck anything up yet. We're far far past the point of no return.... 5 Earth's couldn't produce enough resources for us to live sustainably at this population. And it's only growing faster and faster each year...

IN an earlier post, someone was quoted saying "black metal is not a nice place" And that's true. It's a harsh, cruel world, and a lot of black metal captures this atmosphere and catapults it right back at the listener... Whether its satanic, NS, depressive, or all the other stupid little fucking "sub genre's" of black metal that exist, as if it was some sort of "scene", they all hold one thing in common... It's cold, brutal, and uncompromisingly HATEFUL.
Deal with it or don't listen to it... Quit bitching about it if you don't like it, PUSSY!!
