GRAND MOOD 'Final Urge To March' CassetteThe latest release on the always good CW Productions, which is home to Furdidurke, Cirrhus, Kestrel, Taut, Eunuch, and Bilirubin. CW Productions is the label of the cat from Furdidurke. So, ya kinda know what's in store if ya know any of those bands.
Grand Mood play raw Black Metal similar to Furdidurke. Simple riffs, almost punk in structure, it pummels along and at the most perfect times gets melodious yet all the while retaining that Raw BM sound, and the vocals are pained and the lyrics are intelligent. All in all making a fantastic release. This is Black Metal that sticks with ya, that ya keep thinking about when your away, it draws one back to it. Fantastic!
Also, when I bought this at Heaven Street Records (great store in bushwick), the fella who sold in to me, if I heard him right, said Grand Mood was the guy from Furdidurke, but he couldve been talking about the label. Anyone know for sure?
I thought the guy from Furdidurke also runs CW, but I could be mistaken...

ReplyDeleteI'm inclined to believe he has a hand in everything that CW puts out, since they all seem to advance a very similar aesthetic (definitely more so than even other small, specialized labels), but that's little more than speculation. In any case, thanks for the link! More GM will be released in the future, I'm told.
